Our School
Florida Street Discovery Center
At the Florida Street Discovery Center (FSDC), we believe that a strong start leads to a brighter future. Early education and intervention play a critical role in shaping the academic and developmental outcomes of young learners. Research shows that early support is not only more efficient than later remedial efforts—it also leads to greater academic gains and long-term success. High-quality early childhood education sets the foundation for confident, capable, and curious learners.
FSDC is a nurturing environment where children can learn, explore, and grow. Through developmentally appropriate instruction and a focus on social-emotional development, we prepare students for kindergarten and beyond. Our staff is committed to creating meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and self-expression.
Our History
The Banning Unified School District proudly opened the Florida Street Discovery Center in August 2014 to serve Transitional Kindergarten students and 3- to 5-year-old children with special needs. In July 2016, the Center expanded to include State Licensed Preschool classrooms for 3- and 4-year-old children.
Most recently, in 2024, the Florida Street Discovery Center underwent a major expansion as part of the FSDC TK Expansion Project, which included the addition of a new state-of-the-art building and modern playground area. This exciting development has enhanced the learning environment for our youngest learners and reaffirmed our commitment to providing high-quality early education.
As part of the Banning Unified School District, FSDC proudly supports the District Mission through our school’s own mission and goals, which guide our work every day. Together with families and community partners, we are shaping a generation of students who are prepared, inspired, and ready to succeed.
